Biography

Assistant Professor Dr. Chaiyaboot Ariyachet was awarded a Ph.D. scholarship at Harvard Medical School, USA, for his doctoral degree in medical sciences. He also received a full scholarship from the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) to pursue his bachelor’s degree in biology and graduated with a Summa Cum Laude. He was the recipient of several competitive international research grants, including those from the Asahi Glass Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), and the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). His PhD work presents a novel approach to treating type I diabetes and was published in Cell Stem Cell, the top journal in the field of stem cells and regenerative biology. This work was highlighted on the cover issue and won the best dissertation award from the National Research Council of Thailand. Dr. Ariyachet is currently an assistant professor and a researcher at the Center of Excellence in Hepatitis and Liver Cancers, Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. His current work focuses on the roles of non-coding RNAs in liver diseases, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver fibrosis. Additionally, he is interested in transcriptional regulation in liver diseases. His recent work discovers the function of the novel transcription factor, ZNF469, which promotes liver fibrosis.
