Biography
Prof. Dr. Sunchai Payungporn obtained his B.Sc. (1st Class Honors) in Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He has gained post-doctoral experiences in several institutes, including Beijing Genomics Institute (BGI), China; Institut Pasteur, France; Nagoya City University, Japan; and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USA. He has dedicated himself to conduct research in the field of molecular biology continuously for more than 20 years with an h-index of 32 and more than 170 international publications with more than 4,000 citations. Now, he is the head of the Department of Biochemistry and the head of the Center of Excellence in Systems Microbiology (CESM), Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University. His research interests have recently expanded to apply systems microbiology approaches for integrating basic biological information with genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics to create the pathogen-host research paradigm and innovate novel strategies to fight against infectious diseases.
